SOAR TO SUCCESS

This literacy initiative utilizes a reading mentoring model that pairs young readers with high school and/or college student athletes who serve as reading mentors. Interesting in being a reading mentor? Apply here!

Looking to strengthen your child’s reading skills? Sign up for the SOAR To Success literacy program!

Designed for students in grades 2-4, the program pairs your child with a high school or college student athlete that will read and engage with them each week. Participation in the literacy program is currently virtual. Your child will need access to a computer, laptop or mobile device and must be able to download the Zoom online software. Participation requires that your child be available to engage with their volunteer reader/mentor during a set date and time once per week for 4 weeks.

SOAR To Success Registration

Once your child has been matched with a reading mentor, we will mail or deliver a set of books to your child. Once a date and time is set with your reading mentor, you will receive an email invite for a Zoom meeting. Your child should log onto the Zoom meeting each week during the designated time. A typical session will be 30 minutes – 45 minutes.

This program is made possible through a grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
