The SOAR in Action program offers youth leadership development, combined with post-high school readiness programming, designed for middle and high school youth in the community.
SOAR in Action focuses on preparing youth to face life challenges and barriers through a series of small group, interactive activities that help to develop leadership skills, such as conflict resolution, positive and productive communication skills, goal setting, teambuilding, and empowerment.
As part of the SOAR in Action YLD programming, youth participants will engage in the following focus areas:
- Leadership knowledge: Youth will learn and gain knowledge with a focus on the development of leadership skills.
- Leadership skill building: Youth will recognize and discover their own strengths and growth opportunities through interactive role playing, as well as community and career exploration.
- Leadership in action: Youth will put their leadership skills into practice, make decisions and lead projects in collaboration with other youth and coach-mentors.
