The GO SOAR program is designed to empower girls ages 7-18 through leadership training, mentorship, and athletics. GO SOAR programming focuses on helping girls develop leadership skills, such as conflict resolution, positive and productive communication skills, goal setting, teambuilding, and empowerment, while developing positive relationships with peers and mentors.
As part of GO SOAR programming, youth participants will engage in the following focus areas:
Youth participants will also gain exposure to college and career pathways, financial literacy and self-advocacy. This program is designed to make girls more empowered, self-assured, resilient leaders.
The GO SOAR program is available free to girls in the target service area (zip codes: 76106 and 76164). Leadership development sessions are held at Diamond Hill Community Center, in combination with sports programming. As part of the GO SOAR program, DHNS Youth Association will launch girls flag football this fall for girls in 3rd-6th grades and offer girls basketball in the winter for girls in 3rd-6th grades.
