GO SOAR

Empowering Girls. Building Leaders for Life.

The GO (Girls Only) SOAR program is designed to empower girls ages 7-18 through leadership development, mentorship, and sports-based engagement, as well as academic and life skills support. GO SOAR programming focuses on helping girls develop essential skills, such as goal setting, effective communication, team-building, conflict resolution, and empowerment, while developing positive relationships with peers and mentors.

As part of GO SOAR programming, youth participants will engage in the following focus areas:

  • Redefining Leadership: Learn a more expansive definition of leadership that includes examples of women in leadership.
  • Goal Setting: Set bold and healthy goals and explore meaningful ways to lead.
  • Leadership Superpowers: Embrace and recognize their own strengths and unique leadership style.
  • Overcoming Bias & Barriers: Examine stereotypes, learn to reframe failures and identify positive risk-taking.

Youth participants will also gain exposure to college and career pathways, financial literacy and self-advocacy. This program is designed to make girls more empowered, self-assured, resilient leaders.

The GO SOAR program is available free to girls in the target service area (zip codes: 76106 and 76164). Leadership development sessions are held at Diamond Hill Community Center, in combination with sports programming at different seasons throughout the year. As part of the GO SOAR program, DHNS Youth Association will launch girls flag football this fall for girls in 3rd-6th grades and offer girls basketball in the winter for girls in 3rd-6th grades.

If your child is interested in joining the program, please complete the online registration form here. For more information, contact info@dhnsyouth.org.
